The ceremony took place last week (Wednesday 3rd July) at The International Centre in Telford. The annual awards recognise excellence and best practice within the health and fitness sector. The unique sporting facility received the award for bringing value to the local community through engagement and its support of universities.
Kenny Gunnyeon, business development manager at ASV, who collected the award on the night, said: “ASV is honoured to win and to be recognised for the facilities and services we provide to universities and beyond. It is a great testament and strong reflection of the team’s hard work and ASV’s impressive development and growth.”
ASV provides state of the art training facilities and coaching to those training for national sporting events such as the Commonwealth Games and World Championships. This is set to continue with the development of the £22 million Olympic standard Aquatics Centre, due to open in early 2014.
Kenny continues: “At ASV, we strive to continuously improve the standards of our facilities.  The new Aquatics Centre will allow us to provide high quality training facilities for elite swimmers to train and give people of all ages and abilities in the community the chance to enjoy water-based activities. The world class facilities will also enable the North East to play a key role in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.”
ASV has welcomed a number of major sporting events to the North East, including international football matches and netball tournaments. Since opening in 2009 ASV now offers over 80 classes, and provides the greatest number of fitness activities in the city.
